Nestled in the heartland of the Midwest is a small and quiet town called “Malvern.” Malvern, Iowa is your average small town with a couple of diners, a small library and a bank. However, this little town holds a dark and haunted secret. That secret is Malvern Manor!
Malvern Manor was one of our first investigations and started it all in our search for the paranormal. Malvern Manor has intrigued us from the moment we first stepped foot inside. The halls are dark and narrow, the rooms cluttered with remnants left behind from former residents, and bloody fingerprints stain the halls on the second floor. The manor is right up any paranormal lovers alley and has so many stories just waiting to be told!
We’ve been to Malvern Manor a handful of times but this time was very special! It was our first paranormal event and may I add, National Paranormal Day. We had been planning this event for months and even arranged to have Josh Heard and Johnny Houser join us. What we didn’t know is the eventful night we were about to have.
The day had finally come! We packed our gear, crammed it in the truck and hit the road to Malvern. Along for the ride is our good friend Justin Miller (President of the Cramer-Kenyon House located in Yankton, South Dakota.) We share stories of our past visits and jam out to the music on our playlist just before the sign to Malvern comes into view. Just 4 miles ahead our destination would be on the left, Malvern Manor!
We pull in back under the newly made canopy (which is definitely new) and put the truck in park. Here to greet us out back was the man himself, Josh Heard.
Josh briefly chats about the weeks events of other teams and the activity that's been going on the last couple of days. Now this definitely has us excited for the evening. He also makes the statement before he departs for supper that Johnny and him are going to make the house come alive tonight! Without further a due we are handed the keys to begin setting up for our event.
The time flies by as we finish setting up for our event and we chat amongst ourselves about how the evening will go. We hope our guests have a good and spooky time. Now like we said before this was our very first event as a team and the nerves were definitely nerving.
Well here we go it's 6'o'clock! Our guests had finally started arriving and mingling amongst themselves waiting for the evening to begin. Amongst our guests are other paranormal investigators and first timers. It definitely made our hearts full seeing all these people who had come just to hang out with us and investigate. Let me tell you the night did deliver!
The evenings was met with introductions, a haunted history tour, and unlimited snacks and coffee to keep you up for days! Plus may I add two of the coolest dudes, Josh Heard and Johnny Houser! These two together with their jokes and sarcasm will definitely leave your bellies hurting. One of our guests even peed her pants (literally) from having such a blast. Although we can't say for sure if it was the laughing or the fact that she was scared of the whole place but hey, "What happens at the Manor stays at the Manor!"
We definitely want to talk about two situations that took place during our event that we thought were pretty dang cool! Shadow Man Hallway and The Attic! Now if your a paranormal junkie or have been to Malvern then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Malvern Manor is no joke and this place will have you running around like a game of cat and mouse!
We started in Shadow Man hallway, all twenty six of us, crammed down the dark and creepy hallway trying to communicate. Josh and Johnny fired up the good 'ole Geo Port and started talking smack to each other to really get the place going. Oh boy did that spark things up as we had three very prominent knocks come from down the hall and a light turned on. We had seen this happen only on the tv's but never once when we had been investigating. How freaking awesome to witness this happen not only for us but for our guests as well.
Now to speed things up the group had split to explore. Half of the guests went to the Attic and the rest wandered around the manor. Now the Attic is our least favorite place. I will say between my brother and I, I have not went to the attic the last few times nor had I during our event. It's something I can not explain but I can not bring myself to go into the attic.
We did not join in the attic festivities but definitely got a ear full when everyone met back in the waiting area for coffee and snacks. We were told that they were communicating with something that was not so nice. Johnny had his daughter's come through the spirit box for which he was later pushed down hard and fall to the floor.
We chatted briefly with Johnny aside from the guests and he made it very clear he was done for the evening after that incident plus a severe thunderstorm had began to roll in. He stated he would be crashing for the night in Josh's office and heading the heck out after the storm passed. We definitely didn't blame him.
The night went on with a few things here and there as our guests departed and thanked us for the wonderful and fun evening they had. We could not have had a better time and the guests that attended were beyond kind and full of fun that we look forward to hosting again in the future.
Malvern Manor will forever hold a special place for both of us and who knows what other things it has in store for us!
